This page is a roadmap for graduates of the Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT, in Turkish BÖTE) programme and for students close to graduation. For the list of fields graduates work in, see our Job Titles page.
What does your degree mean?
Graduates receive a bachelor's degree in Computer Education and Instructional Technology Teaching. The degree is a registered qualification in the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TYÇ), which describes its scope and learning outcomes.[1] Higher-education qualifications in Türkiye are defined through the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ), adopted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) General Assembly on 21 January 2010 and aligned with the European Qualifications Framework.[2] This alignment helps when you need to explain what your degree corresponds to abroad.
Five paths after graduation
1. Teaching: AGS and the National Education Academy
Under Teaching Profession Law No. 7528, becoming a teacher at the Ministry of National Education (MEB) requires a bachelor's degree from a programme that qualifies for teaching and successful completion of the preparatory training of the National Education Academy.[3] Admission to the Academy is based on the MEB Academy Entrance Exam (AGS) administered by ÖSYM. The first AGS was held on 13 July 2025.[4] The first preparatory training term started on 13 April 2026.[5]
In 2025 a separate Computer and Instructional Technologies teaching field was created for general primary and secondary schools.[6] Follow the official MEB and ÖSYM websites for the AGS calendar and quota announcements.
2. Graduate studies
Master's and doctoral programmes in educational technology, instructional design and computer education lead to academic careers and are also an advantage in corporate training and instructional design roles. Admission requirements (such as ALES and foreign-language scores) are set by YÖK's regulation on graduate education and by each university's call. Requirements change, so check the current text before applying.[7]
3. Experience abroad: Erasmus+ traineeships for recent graduates
Erasmus+ offers recent graduates traineeships abroad. The traineeship must be completed within 12 months of graduation and last at least 2 months. You apply while still a student, through your university's Erasmus+ office, and finding the host organisation is usually your own responsibility.[8] Talk to your Erasmus+ office during your final term.
4. Private sector and corporate training
Instructional design, e-learning content development, learning management system administration and corporate training are common destinations for CEIT graduates. In these roles a portfolio matters as much as the degree: a training module you designed, an educational application you built or an internship project you ran. Our Internship page is a good starting point.
5. Continuing professional development
Graduation is not the end of developing your digital competence. You can assess yourself against international frameworks:
- SELFIE for TEACHERS: a free self-reflection tool from the European Commission, based on DigCompEdu, the European framework for the digital competence of educators. Its 32 items show your strengths and areas for development and suggest a personal learning plan.[9]
- ISTE Standards: define roles for educators such as learner, leader, designer, facilitator and analyst.[10]
- UNESCO ICT-CFT: sets out 18 ICT competencies and 64 objectives for teachers.[11]
